What Can AASHTO Provide?
AASHTO is eligible to perform frequency coordination for ALL Public Safety Part 90.20 frequencies, as well as Part 101 Microwave.
Support is provided by the AASHTO Committee on Transportation Systems Operations Communications Technology Working Group, as well as through RadioSoft®, which provides a dedicated team of coordinators who work directly with and provide one on one support to each partner.
One of the goals of the AASHTO Committee on Transportation Operations’ Communications Working Group (formerly known as the Special Committee on Wireless Technology), is to support the Radio Frequency Coordination Program on behalf of our members. This includes representing AASHTO members and their interests before the FCC and other federal and state regulatory agencies. The following national organizations have AASHTO representation:
- Public Safety Communications Council
- Land Mobile Communications Council
- National Public Safety Telecommunications Council
- FirstNet Public Safety Advisory Committee
- SAFECOM (a Department of Homeland Security program initiative)
AASHTO engages with stakeholders and coordinates response to critical notifications from the FCC that impact the public safety and vehicle infrastructure communication space.
AASHTO members receive a variety of benefits, including competitive pricing and discounts on radio engineering software (in the form of RadioSoft’s RadioCompass).
Sixteen states are in whole or intermittently coordinating current with AASHTO.
